001: introduce

Hello!
I’m Lisa.I’ve been working as an animator in Japanese animation for over six years,
specifically in background design.

Do you know what background design is?

It involves creating the worlds where anime takes place,
such as the characters’ rooms or the schools they attend.
It’s quite similar to environmental design or Concept Art in U.S. animation.

I originally wanted to become a manga artist,
so I gained a lot of experience working as an assistant to Japanese manga artists before joining this animation company.
Although I gave up on becoming a manga artist, I’m glad I found this job (even though it comes with its share of challenges…).

In 2025, I decided to try something new, and with the new year, I wanted to write about my job.
I know Japanese animation is more popular than ever,
so one of the reasons I started this blog is to share my experiences with those who might be curious to know more
(and to improve my English skills!).

I’ll be posting little by little, and I hope you enjoy reading!
